The Ohio Green Living (OGL) Fayre Labor Day on the River (September 7, 2009) is an annual grassroots community event organized by volunteers working year-round to put it all together.
The Fayre celebrates the many small businesses, organizations, individuals, and initiatives in the region dedicated to building community identity rooted in the principles of sustainability. This will be our third year and we look forward to including you in the fun!
Our first year we had 750 paid attendees and last year we had 1,000. With your help and participation we can dramatically increase this year’s attendance. Through this event we give back to the community and invest in our future sustainability – all net proceeds from this event are donated to Ohio-based non-profit organizations.
This year’s Fayre will take place at Zane’s Landing Park in Zanesville, Ohio – just 55 miles East of Columbus on I-70. The event will be open to the public from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Admission to the Fayre is $5; children 12 and under are free.
We will be along the Muskingum River which sports the Sternwheeler boat, The Lorena. There is also a 3.2 mile bike path that runs through the park. Access to the park can be made by boat, kayak, bicycle or on foot. There will be live music, workshops, demonstrations, informational booths, green living products and services, artists and food. Vendors and Informational Booths (YOU) are a core part of the OGL Fayre Labor Day.
Those having booths will be listed on the Vendors page for the Fayre at www.ohiogreenliving.org with a link to their website, if desired. Local artists, food vendors, green businesses, environmental organizations, parks & recreation sites, alternative health practitioners, renewable energy specialists, organic farms & gardens and more are encouraged to participate. A 10′ x 10′ space is only $50. If you need more room, a 10′ x 20′ is only $85.
Plan now and sign up today to reserve your spot. To enhance your visibility and share information about living lightly with the Earth, you may choose to present a 45 minute workshop. There are four themes for workshops:
- Alternative Building & Energy,
- Sustainable Food & Agriculture Practices,
- Sustainable Living & Lifestyles, and
- Health & Wellness.
Please use the form to submit your topic. Due to time and space requirements, we may not be able to schedule all requests – but we will try!
What you have to say is important. You will know about your place in the day’s schedule no later than the end of July – both for your preparations and for event publicity. Another way to promote your business or organization could include demonstrations of your product, or how your product is made. One inventive dairy used bicycle power for its ice cream maker…there were many volunteers to supply the power as well as long lines for this tasty cold treat.
In addition we encourage you to become a Fayre sponsor. Your sponsorship will grant you advance promotional opportunities and a featured link on our Fayre website. Sponsorships range from $100 to $5,000 with special benefits at each level.
We also request each of our vendors and supporters to donate an item or gift certificate for the door prizes. There is a space on the application where you can describe your contribution Your booth fee includes two tickets. If you need additional tickets, you may purchase them in advance using the attached order form, or at the gate on the day of the Fayre.
We can not supply tables or chairs this year, so please bring your own. Set-up for the event will only be from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. For the safety of everyone, no vehicles will be allowed to move on the Fayre grounds from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
You are an important part of this Fayre, so it is important to maintain your booth presence throughout the entire Fayre (until 6 p.m.) We also encourage you to PLEASE use products that are made from recycled material or are reusable.
Please see the attached Participant Guidelines before making your application. Thank you for considering being with us at the 2009 Ohio Green Living Fayre on the River. People like you are indeed what the Fayre is all about. We appreciate your cooperation in helping educate people about how to be more “green” and sustainable in everyday life.
